Synopsis:

Sticks and stones will break my bones, but words will never harm me.

Whoever coined that phrase is a bald-faced liar. Words are often the sharpest weapon of all, triggering some of the most powerful emotions a human can experience.

“You’re pregnant.”

“It’s a boy.”

“Your son needs a heart transplant.”

Sticks and stones will break my bones, but words will never harm me.

Lies.

Syllables and letters may not be tangible, but they can still destroy your entire life faster than a bullet from a gun.

Two words—that was all it took to extinguish the sun from my sky.

“He’s gone.”

For ten years, the darkness consumed me.

In the end, it was four deep, gravelly words that gave me hope of another sunrise.

“Hi. I’m Porter Reese.”

5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Aly Martinez is an evil genius. The Darkest Sunrise is a book that, for this reviewer, is beyond words. I could use all kinds of adjectives to describe this book but I, not even on my best day, could do it justice. It is everything! Just everything that someone could want in a book.

Ms. Martinez has always given us exceptional books with outstanding writing, excellent characters and superior storylines. But this series, and I’ve only read book 1, will be high on everyone’s best of list for 2017.

I won’t post spoilers or rehash the blurb for you.

I see no reason to add flashy gifs or memes.

The best I can do for you is to tell you that this book will be a book that you will love and will stay with you forever.

5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I love all this author’s books so when I saw that there was a new one, I went in totally blind, not knowing what it was about. At this point; I’m not sure if that was smart or not a good idea!

These two main characters have such a deep understanding for each other that it gave me chills! Both so broken, yet working through life because they have to. The way the author portrayed each of them……. man it gives me the chills just thinking about it.

This is one of those books that evokes every feelings you could ever feel. I felt exhausted after I was done reading because it’s not an easy ride.

I’m not even going to even try to write an amazing review because with the words in this book, I can’t do it justice.

I’ll leave it at this. Aly never fails to bring me to my knees with books, but this book…… this wrecked me! I can’t wait to see what’s going to happen in the next book. 5 stars #2OCCJD

AUTHOR INFORMATION:

Originally from Savannah, Georgia, USA Today bestselling author Aly Martinez now lives in South Carolina with her four young children.

Never one to take herself too seriously, she enjoys cheap wine, mystery leggings, and baked feta. It should be known, however, that she hates pizza and ice cream, almost as much as writing her bio in the third person.

She passes what little free time she has reading anything and everything she can get her hands on, preferably with a super-sized tumbler of wine by her side.
