This story picks right up after the summer of Bad Idea and the aftermath of Layla letting Nico leave to fulfill his dreams of finally getting out of New York and becoming somebody. But poor Layla keeps getting knocked down her parents are divorcing. Nico can’t hold back anymore and called Layla he finds out she’s going to be staying very close to him for a short while and he cannot help but make plans with her. Of course everything comes and bites Nico in the rear, I loathe Jessica, she grows on me but not much, and Layla runs on home angry bitter and hurt. Then they keep in touch but move on with their lives and the angst is just off the dang charts! So basically Nico is off finding himself and Layla poor heartbroken, neglected Layla falls into a even bigger trap, a bad man.
I can only honestly give this book 3 stars because I just cringed the whole way through this story. Layla is desperate to be loved and of course Nico is to stuck in his own things to realize that he just keeps hurting her and she falls into even worse issues and situations that she should have seen the red flags to instantly. I wanted to throttle all the characters and just yell at them constantly! And Layla is so blinded she can’t even see the danger she is putting herself in!
Springsteen fanatic, hopeless romantic, and complete and total bookworm. When
not writing or teaching about writing, she is hanging out with her family,
playing soccer with the rest of the thirty-plus crowd in Seattle, or going on
dates with her husband. In her spare time, she likes to go running with her dog,
Greta, or practice the piano, but never seems to do either one of these things
as much as she should.
