Ok, so I have tried to write this review so many times and each times seems harder and harder. So I’m just going to do word vomit. This was a cute read. It was mildly steamy compared to some books I read which was fine and I liked the banter. It was also very fast paced. I found that I wasn’t too keen on some of the internal dialogue. I’m not saying it wasn’t good….. it just didn’t hook me. I wanted Luke to be more of an alpha. I thought he would be, but after a few chapters, he wasn’t and while I’m ok with that, it just wasn’t what I was expecting.
Slight SPOILER so be warned
So in the blurb, at the end, it talks about how Sophie is carrying with his child….. when I read that, it made me think that this is a surprise pregnancy/accidental baby read, and that it was going to happen fairly early and I was disappointed to see that we go through the whole book before that even happened. I mean, ugh. It was the main draw to me for this book and then I was let down. This has nothing to do with the authors writing, the story, or anything like that…. just my personal wants when I read the blurb and what I believed was going to happen and it didn’t happen.
Also, There were times that the characters made it seem like that had been in talks for a lot longer then the story seemed. I couldn’t really pinpoint many time jumps between chapters but I found my self rolling my eyes when it seemed longer. I get that the author had to make the story mysterious, but at the same time, some interns comments the characters made just made me roll my eyes. This is my quark but I wish that things were more noticeable. Maybe even some chapter headers with the time jumps. They had been together on like 2 occasions and bam it was friends for a few months when it doesn’t seem that months have passed….. that just doesn’t work for me as a reader.
There were some twists to the story that I pretty much guessed from the start and once we learned about those I was very engrossed in the story and finished it quickly. I’m not going to say that I agreed with everything in this book, but the author made the characters cases strong. Some things just didn’t add up for me when I was reading. Even with that, I would be willing to try another book by this author in the future. 3 stars #2OCCJD

Aubrie Lee is the sexy minded alter ego of a very normal, a tad boring,
always smiling mid-twenties woman.
At first glance, you would never believe that she is capable of not only
fantasizing but writing all the funny, steamy stories that are always lurking
inside her mind, but as we all know looks can be deceiving, and you are given
first row seats to all her stories; Aubrie is a true believer that Love is
love, and her many characters will be showing that with lots of giggles and
HEA’s, that’s guaranteed.
